Metamorphosis

This week, two Fashion brands released photoshoots with Rowoon as a model. The first brand, the korean Andz, has been creating short evocative films with him since 2022, to present their classic retro yet contemporary men's clothes collections. Each and every film and photos they present, has a unique feeling, a connection with cinema and story telling, very far from the runways glitter, evocative of dreams to come or new paths to take, something mysterious about it.

The background is always in the shades of greys , filming often against a geometric set of buildings, a cityscape feeling and yet a sense of remoteness, empty pools, deserted gardens. In their latest shoot, released on the 20/02/2024, the background is mineral, maybe an empty business building, or a modern villa, escalators, dark empty parking spaces, with a shot of light when Rowoon is out in the sun, basking in his glorious beauty. Rowoon in the Andz campaign is close to Seok Woo, his natural innate gentleness and delicacy suiting the blue pale polos, grey and off white, sand like, subdued colors. We are in the 50's and yet we are not, nothing ostentatious or flashy. Simple, beautiful clothes many men could wear but when Rowoon walks in those clothes, the dream starts. An ode to simplicity and smooth manliness. Who else than him can take us instantly into the world of story telling. We follow him into a narrative each of us can decide to imagine in different ways.

Is that beautiful man alone, is he waiting for his lover, is he searching for something or someone, is he sad, is he waiting... Are we in a "film noir" or in a love story ? So many musical pieces come to mind for those images. Rowoon's own partition is so moving and intense. The way he walks, looks at the camera, his nonchalant gaze, the intensity of his presence illuminates space, his long silhouette in soft blues, his shadow on the wall, beautiful poetry.

Wednesday the 21st of February, the Dolce & Gabbana shooting with Elle Korea came out. The exact opposite of the Andz spirit. The glamorous Italian Brand has chosen Rowoon as their ambassador early this year, when he came to Milan for the Man Fashion show.

In January 2024, Elle korea released a first mini film of Rowoon, in Milan.

The second shooting is now out and created a huge upheaval on the web.

The ultra modern sophisticated, out of the box brand vision of Rowoon, in their haute couture clothes, is a superb work of art in itself. A feel of Italian extravaganza, an edgy twist, a blurring of genres, references to the Italian and mafia cinema too.

The first image I saw was the one with a black rose on a white top, leaving half of Rowoon top body naked. The eye goes incessantly from his dark hair and eyes to the dark rose on his shirt and inevitably stopping on the troubling little flower bud on his chest, his heavenly face teasing the camera. In that shooting, he is the yin and yang of beauty, feminity and masculinity together, moon and sun, sky and earth, soft and hard, light and shadow, the subtle point, when the sea meets the sand, the union of everything all in one man. So much feeling, so much beauty. Rowoon the actor is at work, metamorphosing for the D&G esthetic vision. He enters the designer personal vision and makes it his for the time of the shooting, turning himself into an imaginary being, a representation of a desirable man flower, using his body and finely tuned spirit, to be someone else, a dream, an icon, a living work of art.

Kim Seok Woo 's Rowoon metamorphosis is outstanding, in films, the fashion world or when he sings solo on stage. His acting talent is boundless and a gift to the world.

We love him for everything he is, behind a camera or when he is invisible, free, his own man.
